The first adults to have an influence on the child are normally his or her parents. Therefore, it is important for parents to practise the exercises together with their child - especially during the period of movement development. The child is going to like and enjoy the exercises more if they are discovered together with the parent. If you teach your children how to use their bodies to the fullest, they are likely to have a greater appreciation than if you just nurture their young minds only.It is not merely the gym instructor’s task to teach your child about exercise. You need to lay down the foundations for their work. Furthermore, if your children learn how to exercise and use their bodies and abilities well, you are likely to develop a close personal relationship with your children.
Remember, it is not the perfect execution of a given exercise that matters, but rather the joint practise together. Focus your attention on the exercises and their effects. Show your kids what they should pay attention to and reveal the small tricks that will make it easier for them to carry out the exercises. Make them become aware of what is happening inside their bodies during exercise. Focus together on breathing, movement, muscle contraction, increase in heart rate and body relaxation. If children learn to recognise signals from their body, their self-confidence is also likely to increase. The teaching of a healthy lifestyle can be positively influenced by the calm and happy environment that you as a parent can provide to your child every day. Remember, it is not the quantity but the quality that matters.
If you want to teach your child a new lesson, fully read the lesson before you try it. Once you understand how the program works, you will be better prepared to give help to your child when the program and exercises are introduced.
Training together can also help to increase a child's ability to develop personal relationships because he or she will be better able to put himself or herself into another person’s place. He or she will realise that accepting help or assistance from others, trusting another person and helping each other are mutual goals that require active participation by both parties. The child learns that helping one another is not equal to being subservient, and through working together they will understand the benefits of helping and being helped.
