You need a lot of oxygen to burn fat. Your heart is beating faster and you are breathing more rapidly: it’s essential to maintain a steady rhythm of movement and a steady pulse to burn fat.

Of course you can’t always wear a pulse monitor or count your pulse so the rule of thumb here is that your fat-burning pulse rate is one by which you can still engage in a conversation and keep talking, but you’re also panting a little bit.
