Sugar is a simple carbohydrate, so it is not able to provide sustained energy. It is consumed as if we were burning paper: we need more and more to keep producing energy. As an effect of excess sugar consumption, the pancreas produces more insulin. After this, the cells absorb the blood sugar from the blood, the blood sugar level drops, but insulin stays in the blood. Sudden energy drops will then follow sudden peaks of energy, which leads to discomfort. To avoid this, the quickest method will be eating sugar again! A vicious circle, especially because due to the excess insulin the cells absorb more fat, too. The final result is gaining weight!
However, preventing this is easy. Get rid of all the sugar in your cupboards: white sugar, brown sugar, sweets, cakes. Use honey, dried fruits or maple syrup as natural sweeteners, but with a limit!
