What are the consequences of incorrect posture?

Crooked spine

School backpacks cause constant asymmetric weight distribution when children carry them over only one shoulder. As a result, severe joint problems can develop in hips, knees and ankles.

Hunched back

95% of the time it is a result of incorrect posture from underdeveloped back muscles.

Frequent lower back pain

Due to the extended times spent sitting, the lower back muscles atrophy and can no longer support the vertebrae. The pain can result in further deformities and can lead to herniated discs.

Change in balance

Spinal changes alter the structure of the abdominal cavity to compensate for the shift in balance, creating bodily changes all over the body in relation to the distribution of weight.

Concaved chest and shoulders shifted forward

Concaved chest and shoulders shifted forward can result in decreased lung capacity, allowing less oxygen to get to the blood. Less oxygen results in a decreased capacity to concentrate and can lead to fatigue even at the beginning of the day.

Forward shifted hip

Forward shifted hips hinder the blood supply of the lower abdominal organs.

Bad digestion

Digestion is limited by the compression of the gastrointestinal tract, incorrect posture increases the time needed for digestion and severely decreases digestive effectiveness.

Weakened leg muscles

Those with bad upper body posture cannot rest their legs either. The constant pressure on the knee over extends the joints and takes work away from the muscles of the thigh and buttocks resulting in their reduced strength.

Decreased fitness

This is also a common result of incorrect posture since weak muscles already are getting less oxygen and as a result getting further weakened. The child gets tired easily.

Physical passivity

Pain results in the disappearance of a person’s desire to exercise, and the cardiovascular system becomes accustomed to the body’s passive state. Upon exertion, the cardiovascular system will be unable to operate properly and fainting, palpitations and heart attacks (in adulthood) could occur.
