Lay your child on large sheet of paper that is as large as the child’s body. Trace around the sides of his or her body onto the paper. Then both of you should sit next to the paper. Explain to your child that this drawing represents their own body. Colour the different body parts and write their names on the paper. Explain how each part functions. Make sure that the child understands that he or she needs to learn about the body and its parts so you can test them later on.
What body parts should be marked? Click here to print anatomy cards for all 40 parts!
When done, attach the paper to the wall so the child can observe it standing up. Play "measuring height," not in the conventional way but with some added stretching. For example, you can say, "Grab the chalk and draw a line as high as you can."
